Hulme Community Garden Centre
Hulme Community Garden Centre is so much more than a garden centre. Having recently completed a new container build (funded by the community and local businesses) the shop stocks a wide variety of houseplants and ethically sourced products, they host volunteer days and are a much-loved green oasis within the urban community. You’ll find an excellent cafe with lots of lovely vegan options, the shop boasts a range of handmade products created by the volunteer woodworking group and an impressive mud kitchen for the children.

Flourish
Starting as a humble stall at St. Anne’s Square, Flourish have, well Flourished! Their new Deansgate Square shop spans two floors and is packed with houseplants, flowers, plant pots, crystals, incense, it’s a whole vibe. The double height shop means that you’ll find extra large plants on offer. There’s fresh stock landing most weeks, so you can visit time and time again and still be delighted. Their prices are jolly reasonable too.

Green & Grounded
Green & Grounded was founded in August 2020, by the lovely Matt & Rowan Hammond. If you’re a long-time reader then you might remember my stunning wedding flowers, these were created by Rowan, she’s a very talented creative florist.
Focusing on sustainably produced plants, using ethical and fair trade growers, Matt & Rowan are aiming to use as little plastic as possible. Expect a wild variety of houseplants, flowers and seasonal workshops galore.

Bud Garden Centre
Bud is a small, independent garden centre in Burnage, South Manchester. Established in 2011. With emphasis on ethically sourced and environmentally-friendly practices, you’ll find a unique offering of plants and gifts. All their home-grown vegetable plants and potted bulbs are raised in peat free compost. In addition, the herbs and ferns, and many of the shrubs and perennials are grown on peat free UK nurseries.

Nice Things
Nice Things is a small but mighty delight, this independently owned plant shop stocks a variety of house plants from small succulents to colossal cacti. There are pots, plant health products and fresh offerings appearing most weeks. The interior of the shop is super pretty and packed to the rafters with wonderful plants, what’s not to love?
