Shopping sustainable homeware can be a challenge if you’re looking for eco-friendly textiles that look fabulous and that are kinder to the planet. Weaver Green are a UK company creating a range of recycled plastic rugs and blankets made from plastic bottles. If you’re a sucker for classic French linens, Scandinavian or bohemian styles, then you’re in luck.
Recycled Plastic Rugs
The Weaver Green range of environmentally-friendly, recycled rugs look and feel just like wool, but contain up to 3000 salvaged plastic bottles each! Everything they sell has helped prevent hundreds of single use plastic bottles from ending up in the ground or floating in the ocean.
Made entirely from recycled plastic bottles, the fabulous rugs at Weaver Green come in a variety of styles from bohemian to softer Scandinavian designs. Being made from recycled plastic means all of the Weaver Green rugs, cushions, throws, footstools and storage baskets are ideal for use in kitchens, under dining tables, in bathrooms and hallways, as well as outside on garden terraces and in summer houses.

Blankets Made From Plastic Bottles
The soft blankets are hand-woven from up to 300 recycled plastic bottles each. Priding themselves on being stain-resistant and easy to clean the recycled blankets are a great choice for busy family homes. They’re also moth resistant and completely uninteresting to dust mites and other critters, making these eco-friendly blankets a great choice for allergy sufferers.
What about microfibres shedding?
When it comes to washing plastic-based materials, there is the issue of microfibres shedding. Microplastics are fragments of any type of plastic less than 5 mm in length, often tiny fibres from textiles. To limit potential microfibre shedding, Weaver Green have worked hard on ensuring that all of the textiles are made from yarn that reaches the highest possible tensile stability and strength. The yarn is made from long fibres, that are less prone to shredding.
If you love fabulous blankets as much as I do, then head over to the Weaver Green website to shop the full range.
