The mist blanketing Lake Como created an enchanting atmosphere as we boarded the lake ferry to cross from Lezenno to Argeno a small town on the opposite side of Lake Como from our apartment.
It was a lazy Sunday and we were both fully chilled following a few days of glorious sunshine relaxing next to Lake Como.
Jumping off the ferry in Argeno we wandered into the perfectly typical Italian Piazza surrounded by parked Vespas, gelato stands, coffee shops, bars, cafes and restaurants. We took a table outside at La Piazetta.
La Piazetta is a small restaurant with attentive staff serving a perfect combination of innovative and traditional dishes, local lake fish and simple classics with a twist. I opted for the tuna steak top with balsamic caramelized onions and wasabi mash, which was melt-in-the-mouth delicious (I mean shed a tear delicious!).
Post dinner we sat chatting drinking coffee soaking up the atmosphere. Unbeknown to me Mr T was carrying around his Mother’s engagement ring waiting for the perfect moment to pop the question >gulp<! Not one for sharing mushy blog posts about my love life, getting engaged is kind of, well…a life changer, so felt compelled to share and of course bring regular readers along this wild and fabulous journey.
We stopped by one of the lakeshore café’s for a drink before catching the evening ferry back to Lezenno, as the drinks were served I noticed a small box on the table >OMG< Mr T got down on one knee and said “well, how about it?” –by this point I was shaking, stunned and in mild shock, of course I said “yes!!”
Sharing a drop of fizz we were so excited calling our families and friends to share the news and left Argeno on the evening ferry, totally elated. What a dream day. (OMG I’m engaged)
Love
Christine
