Adopting clean beauty habits is all about getting used to a new routine. Implementing healthy habits and sticking to them. For me healthy skin-care is something I’m conscious of, but still have to remind myself from time to time to stick to a routine. If you’re reading and want to improve your own skin-care routine, here are 5 healthy skin-care habits to try out…
Moisturise Everyday
Using a moisturiser each day will help keep your skin hydrated, soft and glowing. The best time to apply a moisturiser is right after you wash your face both in the morning and evening. It’s also beneficial to use an extra hydrating natural moisturiser before going to bed for the night, as this will give your skin time to repair while your sleep. Regular applications are a great way to keep skin from drying out. Although you may want to use a fragranced lotion because of how great it smells, these can actually be toxic, harsh on the skin and cause irritation, which no one wants.
Avoid Over-touching Your Face
The oils, bacteria and other small particles that you pick up on your fingers and hands throughout the day can be detrimental to your skin. If you are someone who finds yourself often making contact with your face – even without realising it – you should begin training yourself to resist the urge as much as possible. Bad habits such as touching your face can cause clogged pores and excess oil on your skin’s surface, which becomes a breeding ground for blackheads, pimples, and other blemishes. Don’t let something so simple keep you from having a fabulous complexion.
Use Vitamins to Your Advantage
Maintaining a balanced diet is great for your physical health while giving your skin many of the vitamins it needs to maintain its glow. However, for all of the nutrients your body doesn’t receive from the foods you eat, you may need to make up for it through supplements. Each type of supplement has its own added benefits and ensure the long-term sustainability of your body. Some provide key vitamins such as Vitamin C and Vitamin E. Others contain key ingredients that support your immune system, which allows you to fight off infections. Vitamins containing biotin are great for the skin’s elasticity, as well as the strength of your skin and nails. There are so many options to choose from, but whatever you decide to use, research and understand the benefit, then take them regularly to ensure their effectiveness. Stay Hydrated
Although it may seem strange that drinking water can actually help your skin’s health, it’s true! Set a goal for yourself to consume at least 7 or 8 glasses of water a day. If you are dehydrated, so is your skin. You won’t look as radiant, and your skin tone may become dull over time. Drinking water will give a gleam to your face, and help prevent dry skin and roughness. It is also beneficial to use products, whether it be cleansers, exfoliators, Dermal Repair Complex or any other facial compounds that have a hydrating formula. Your beauty products should not contribute to dryness and irritation, they should help prevent them.
Wear an SPF Daily
You’ve probably become accustomed to believing you only need to apply an SPF in preparation for long-term exposure to the sun. However, this isn’t the case. Your skin is at risk even during short periods of time outdoors. Whether it be while driving a car, running errands or taking the dog for a walk, UV rays can damage your skin’s surface. Applying these every morning will keep you from many serious health issues in the future, as well as keep skin healthy.
