Located in Queen Victoria Park just minutes away from the falls lies The Niagara Parks Floral Showhouse. Set in green gardens lined with blossom trees the Floral Showrooms are large greenhouses filled with seasonal florals, turtles, rabbits, little birds and cactus. The Greenhouse is a climate controlled environment with over 70 free flying tropical birds, exotic plants and running water fountains. Here’s a look at our trip to the Niagara Falls Floral Showhouse…
The Falls of Niagara joins hundreds of beautiful, significant and inspiring sites throughout the World which have been dedicated to the cause of peace and international friendship. In the gardens of the Floral Showhouse is a plaque dedicated to Sri Chinmoy a spiritual teacher who dedicated his life in the service of humanity.
The plaque reads ‘Niagara reminds us of the energising power of a higher force. Such will one day be the power of peace on Earth. When human beings everywhere aspire and strive for peace based on love and the feeling of oneness, the cascading power of this peace will transform the fate of humanity.’
The Floral show house was a colourful respite costing $5 to look around with all proceeds going towards the upkeep of the gardens, animals and flowers. The atmosphere was humid to cater for the tropical plants and cactus. I loved to smell the flowers, the planting was excellent too with layers of colour, plant height and haphazard arrangements , the flower beds really came to life.
Being a sucker for anything colourful and floral The Niagara Floral Showhouse was a beautiful experience. These two little guys were hanging around in a straw bed enjoying the springtime, don’t they look lovely?
