Scorpio gets a bad press in modern astrology. Those born under the Scorpio Zodiac sign are known for being intense, inquisitive and delving- which can be seen as intimidating to some of the more gentle signs like Libra.
Scorpio is associated with the element of Water, for Scorpio this energy is like a deep ocean, this is why natives to this sign can come across as brooding, dissatisfied and obsessive as a lot of their energy is drawn deep from within their psyche.
Scorpio Astrology Explained
There are two planets in retrograde this year, as Scorpio transits across our skies. Mercury, the planet of communication will be in retrograde until 11th November 2020 and Mars the planet of drive and ambition is currently retrograde in Aries until 3rd November 2020. These will both leave heavy hangover periods of around two weeks, where the energy and frustrations may linger.
Mars retrograde will effect our sex drive and motivation, not a comfortable place for Scorpio, the most sexually charged sign of all the Zodiac. Mercury retrograde slows our communication down, moves plans around and halts our progress, if we are rushing to achieve our goals.
When we throw Scorpio’s deep and inquisitive energy into this mix it creates an undercurrent of emotional disruptions, frustrations and desires.
We will have a desire to focus on our relationships either with ourselves or our closest romantic relationships and this will be a big focus over the next month.
Scorpio Zodiac Sign Traits
Those born under the Scorpio Zodiac sign may have life long hobbies or ethical principles, which they will hold onto tightly.
Natives to this sign are not afraid of endings, they feel passionately and move through life with the attitude that feelings must be felt and not avoided.
Scorpio’s are by nature creative and known for being sexually potent, they thrive on the fringes in subcultures and are likely partial to fetishes or kinks in the bedroom. They love fearlessly and often make very loyal lovers, family members and protective parents.
Many Scorpios enjoy monogamy and make trusting and generous partners, if a little dominating at times, as they like to take the lead. Like all the water signs they like a degree or romance. Like Aires they will not shy away from their inadequacies or yours and often like to psychoanalyse their relationships.

Scorpio Actions To Take
Scorpio is ruled by Mars and Pluto, making it a great energy to start work on inventive creative projects. Scorpio season can have a serious tone as it pushes us to dive deep into the workings of our psyche. We can sometimes feel like we want to investigate our own deeper secrets or psychological motivations.
“When you become the image of your own imagination, it’s the most powerful thing you could ever do.”
– Ru Paul
A great way to navigate this season is through talking therapy, whether that’s over a bottle of wine with a friend or in a therapist’s office it’s a wonderful opportunity to iron out any niggles or doubts we have about our commitments or self worth.
Personal creative projects on the other hand can gain huge momentum as can self initiated learning. This energy is introverted, as none of us know if or when we will be in lockdown again, it is worth using the unpredictable energy to finish up old projects before moving forwards with new ones.
