Decorating your eco-home is always fun to do. Yet, sometimes, the idea of knowing exactly where to start and what sort of ideas to work with can be hard. Maybe you’re a little overwhelmed when it comes to finding inspiration or you just feel like you don’t have the time to do it. And that’s okay – it’s often something that many of us feel. It can be hard to find the motivation to get started – especially when you feel like it’s going to be a long and busy job to start. But this is why you’re going to want to think about making it fun! Whether you’ve just moved house or you just want to redecorate your current home, it’s time to get excited!
One of the reasons why you might find this hard or off-putting is because you’re not making interior design choices that excite you. If you are worried about it being hard work, you can get some help as well. Just think, if you were building your dream home, you wouldn’t put it off. You’d be excited about the décor and working on your interior design. So why not bring that to life now? This can work in terms of the décor in the room, the function of the home, and even outside too. Let’s take a look at the seven ideas that might inspire you here.
Simple Eco-Home Ideas
1. Have Fun With Eco-Friendly Paint
To start with, you might want to think about having some fun with different colours of paint. Is your eco-home mainly cream or neutral colours? Why not think about shaking it up a little so that you can add in some life and colour? Something darker or brighter or just out of the ordinary could be fun.
There are some amazing eco-friendly paint brands on the market:
- Farrow & Ball
- Lick Paint
- Earthborn
- Little Greene
- Lakeland Paints
2. Convert An Unused Space
Something a little bit bigger than that is the idea of working with one of the unused spaces that you have around the home. Maybe it’s the garage or your attic storage space that you don’t really use? Turning it into a living space could be just the excitement you need.
3. Generate Your Own Electricity
It could also be that you want to be able to do things a little differently in this home. When that’s the case, you may find that generating your own electricity is what you want to be able to do. Maybe you’d find that you want to work out the solar panel cost to see if it’s something that you can do. If you’re looking to redo your roof or make some big changes to the outside of your eco-home, it could be what you want to do here too.
4. Upcycle Your Furniture
Maybe you’re a little tired of your current furniture but you don’t really want to spend any money on getting anything new? Then why not try and give your current furniture a bit of a face lift. This can be fun for you to do with your family or as a creative project on your own.
5. Get Creative In The Garden
From here, you might also want to think about what you can do out in the garden too. A lot of the time, you may find that you focus on the interiors when you’re considering what to do to shake up your eco-home. But a lot of fun can be had in the garden too. When you take a look at some creative and beautiful landscaping ideas, it’s impossible not to be inspired. Yet, you may not want to take on all of this work yourself.
6. Tear Down The Walls
Or maybe you feel like being a bit destructive and making a few big changes? When that’s the case, why not think about moving some walls (if you can). It could be opening up your living space or making some rooms a bit bigger. And it could be exactly what you need.
7. Do Things Differently
Finally, as you’re thinking about switching up your interior, why not be a little bit daring. When you’re used to sticking to the same sorts of colours and the same kind of designs, it can be strange to step out of your comfort zone. Working with different colours, materials, furniture ideas – it can really change the look and feel of your home. If you typically go for bold colour, why not try a simple white or vice versa? You may even find that you really love the finished effect too.
We’re all spending a LOT more time at home, so now is the ideal time to think about those interior updates you’ve been dreaming of.
“When one door of happiness closes, another opens; but often we look so long at the closed door that we do not see the one which has been opened for us.”
