If you’re looking for a summer plant-based recipe that’s perfect for your post-yoga recovery, this mango smoothie could be just the thing. A smoothie bowl is exactly what it sounds like: a smoothie in a bowl. But a smoothie bowl is even better than your usual smoothie, because it’s adorned with lovely toppings. This Mango Smoothie Bowl is the perfect post-recovery treat for your Summer yoga sessions.
Quick And Simple Mango Smoothie Bowl For One
- A half cup of frozen mango
- A half of one large banana
- A quarter cup of pineapple juice (100% juice, no sugar added)
- Your choice of toppings: sliced almonds, almond butter, fresh mango and pineapple, any berries (blueberries, raspberries and strawberries, which also happen to be in season, pair really well with mango), shredded coconut and avocado
- Add a half cup of frozen mango, a half of one large banana, and a quarter cup of pineapple to a blender and puree until smooth and there are no chunks of fruit remaining.
*If you want to up the protein content of your smoothie bowl, then you may add a half cup of plain whole milk or greek yogurt, or a half cup of nut milk to the blender. Just beware of the additives in many yogurts and nut milks. Try your best to use nut milk that is made from nuts and water only.
- Pour your smoothie into a bowl and add your toppings; just one or two toppings yield a delightful smoothie bowl.
The idea behind the smoothie bowl is to make it a meal (or hearty snack) rather than a drink. When you add the element of chewing, you trigger the first step of the digestive process. Smoothies can sometimes get a bad wrap for slamming the body with food in an unnatural way. Basically, imagine eating all of the foods in your smoothie whole: would you be able to do it without being absolutely stuffed? This is why the Mango Smoothie Bowl is so delightful, because with only three ingredients and minimal toppings, it tastes decadent and is so refreshing.
