Good Food Good Mood Cookbook
One of the things that I love most about the Good Food Good Mood Cookbook was that Lina opens with a brief ‘instruction manual’. Covering important aspects of the digestion process. There is a section dedicated to the nervous system and digestion as well as liver function.
Healthy Recipes
All the recipes are free from gluten, dairy and sugar. Each recipe has a key with symbols outlining if it is digestion friendly, energising, immunity boosting, hormone balancing or fitness building. The layout of this book is super user friendly and full of beautiful photography, so even if you’re a cooking novice you’ll be able to follow and enjoy!
‘Historically, nature, mountains, rivers, trees, the sun, the moon have always been honoured in ancient cultures. It’s only when we start moving away from our connection to nature and ourselves that we begin polluting and destroying the environment. We need to revive these attitudes that foster our connection with nature.’

Organic & Seasonal
The Good Food Good Mood Cookbook is a breath of fresh air as it goes into just enough detail about nutrition and the importance of eating as seasonly as possible, without being preachy or overcomplicated.
‘Fruit and vegetables each their nutritional peak around the time they are ready to harvest- and this is also when they taste best. For example when tomatoes are at their reddest, they have the highest concentration of beta-carotene’
– Lina Bou
The book is divided up into brunch, snacks, mains and sides, sweet treats, bread, juices and smoothies, herbal teas and hot drinks, body and soul detox. For brunch you’ll find delicious buckwheat pancakes, varieties of granola including Quinoa Granola with figs and cardamom- yum! For mains there is everything from Baked Aubergine, lots of inventive salads to Veggie Pizza.
The book closes with a chapter titled ‘Healthy Mind, Healthy Gut’ which explores the second brain, the connection between our gut and brain. Lina concludes with a section devoted to meditation and mindfulness, which serves as a simple reminder to take our time and savour every moment.
‘There are only two days in the year that nothing can be done. One is called yesterday and the other is called tomorrow, so today is the right day to love, believe, do and mostly live.’
– Dalai Lama
I’d recommend this book to anyone that is looking for simple healthy plant-based recipes to try. Recipes that are as inventive as they are nutritious.
Stay fabulous
