Growing a garden in the city may sound a little contradictory. Urban gardening is a growing movement. All over major cities there are small urban gardens blooming. Gardening and greenery in the city is vital. Growing gardens helps with air quality, reduces stress and build communities. Here are a few ideas for anyone growing a garden in the city…
As I mentioned over on Instagram recently, I’ve been helping Hulme Community Garden Centre with the launch of their Share Offer CrowdFunder. Hulme Community Garden Centre is an oasis in the heart of Manchester. Our family often visit the garden centre, it’s a great place to enjoy lunch and shop for plants. They also host group sessions, like the Health & Wellbeing group.
You can now invest in Hulme Community Garden Centre! The team at Hulme Community Garden Centre along with lots of volunteers, are working hard to raise enough money to fund a better indoor space for community groups and increase their social impact.
Promote Your Garden
If you’re part of an urban garden group it helps to promote your garden. You might want to launch a CrowdFunder to help you grow. Maybe your could promote your garden initiative at a local fate? You can visit Event Display to get your hands on gazebos, brochure stands, and other promotional decorations which will make you stand out. If you can spare a little bit of money, hiring a couple of people to help you out during the event itself can be a great idea.
Get Social
There are some great ways to connect with people in your local area or apartment block. Perhaps you could harness the power of social media to reach new volunteers. Use Facebook, Twitter and Instagram to share your garden. If you have a local residents Facebook group perhaps you could share your ideas, inspirational images and meet up times.
Just Get Started
If you’ve dreamt of greening the city in your own area. Even if you have a small corner yard, size doesn’t matter. If you’ve been staring at a boring outdoor space and imagined it full of lovely plants, go for it. Just get started, start small with one or two pots. You don’t need a lot of money. Start from seed and watch your garden grow.
Anyone who lives in a city will understand the need for more green space. Nature has the power to help us de-stress, improves our air quality and make everyone that little bit happier!
