Scarborough is a coastal town in North Yorkshire surrounded by picturesque countryside, steeped in history and the perfect place to visit for a classic British getaway. Mr T and I headed over to Scarborough for a lovely weekend and stayed at the charming idyll that is the Ox Pasture Hall Hotel.
Arriving into Scarborough by train we took a little jaunt down to the seafront, Scarborough is a classic British seaside town with pastel coloured houses, seagulls, a medieval castle, beautiful expansive views and of course its fair share of ‘kiss me quick’ hat shops.
Following our walk along the promenade we hopped in a taxi to the Ox Pasture Hall Hotel. The Ox Pasture Hall Hotel is situated roughly two miles from the train station. Within minutes we were surrounded by luscious woodlands, horses grazing, this springs lambs and all the joys of the good old British countryside.
The grounds of the Ox Pasture Hall Hotel are vast and beautifully well kept, the blossom trees were the prettiest pink colour and covered the floor, walking through the pink petals made our approach seem rather magical and dare I say it, a touch romantic.
Ox Pasture Hall Hotel is a former country house surrounded by barns and out-buildings that have been transformed into luxurious suites. Our luxury suite had breathtaking beautiful views across the North Yorkshire Moors.
Our room was very spacious with a lounge area complete with television, sofa and more incredible views, the décor in our suite was cosy, warm, inviting and reflected the history of the rustic country house with real hardwood furniture, checked tweed fabrics cushions and lots of original character.
Our bathroom boasted a walk in shower and bath deep enough to swim in. We settled into out suite, enjoyed a rather indulgent afternoon nap followed by a glorious bath ready for dinner (serious #bathgoals moment).
Ahead of our trip we’d notified the kitchen at the Ox Pasture Hall Hotel of our various dietary requirements (long story short- there are numerous things Mr T and I can’t eat due to various allergies and health reasons) given the list of ingredients we can’t eat we were blown away by how accommodating and imaginative the chef was when we sat down to read the five course gourmet taster menu.
The Ox Pasture Hall Hotel’s Courtyard Restaurant has views out across the magnificent gardens and offers a modern British menu with emphasis on produce being from the local area. We perused the menu whilst enjoying a glass of bubbles looking out over the expanse of greenery, such a refreshing sight and change from the city.
Our evening kicked off with a Carrot, quinoa and herb oil Panacotta, followed by a very fresh tasty Mackerel dish served with spinach. After a short break between courses we moved steadily onto the Pork served with cauliflower, peas and wild garlic, before sampling a delicious beetroot dish served with goats cheese, toasted pine nuts and basil. 
To conclude our meal we ate Nettle Panacotta with toasted walnuts. Each dish was so elegantly served, combining creativity and simplicity made with the freshest ingredients, magnifique!
With a warm glow after a delicious meal we had such a good nights sleep and had requested a late check out (because- nobody wants to get up early at the weekend) After a much needed sleep, we eventually surfaced in time to catch breakfast. We both ordered a full English breakfast with coffees all round.
Well rested, fed and ready to face to day we got our coats on and headed out to explore the gardens and area surrounding the Ox Pasture Hall Hotel. Set in what has to be one of Britain’s most stunning counties, Yorkshire (my birthplace/ not bias) has a lot to offer when it comes to countryside. Not far from the hotel you’ll find plenty of hikes, trails and country pursuits, we saw lots of brave cyclists tackling the gradual winding inclines along the roads. 
We took a short walk off the grounds of the hotel to discover rolling heather filled moors and fields with horses roaming. Needless to say I went off-piste and began wandering around the woodland carpeted in bluebells- the perfect way to while away a weekend.
