Schooner Cove is in Tofino, British Columbia, Canada is accessible via a beautiful rainforest trail when the tide is out. We headed out to Schooner Cove after our daily waffles and coffee with a lovely young German boy. The rainforest was dense packed with huge cedar wood trees and marsh land. There was a perfectly constructed wooden walkway that weaved its way around the trees, over streams and stepped gently up the hills.
The sun was shining and the sky was blue, the conditions were perfect for a walk to Schooner Cove before the tide came in around 1.30. As you exit the woodland you’re faced with miles and miles of untouched, deserted beach. You can see the mountains covered in snow on the horizon which is truly breath-taking as we walked along the beach enjoying the warm sunshine.
Schooner Cove Tofino
The most incredible wood gets washed up on the beach, it’s no wonder the restaurants and hotels are filled with some unique art and furniture made from the local timber. I opted for a traditional Canadian lumberjack jacket as a salute to Canada and all her glory teamed with my jeans and walking boots. I’m acutely aware that my ‘outdoors’ attire is starting to go kind of Status Quo, but hey everybody loves the Quo and it’s important to be practical sometimes, right?!
SoBo Restaurant
All the fresh air and walking made us pretty hungry so we headed out for lunch at SoBo Restaurant. SoBo serves locally sourced, fresh, organic food. The atmosphere is suitably bohemian and the prices are very reasonable. The food was excellent, I opted for the Walnut, Beetroot and Goats Cheese Salad and Raspberry Lemonade. WIN.
We heart Tofino.
